The Plan of Salvation

We lived before we came to earth. We are all spirit children begotten by Heavenly parents. Our time before our mortal lives is called Premortal Life. Our Heavenly Father prepared a perfect plan for His children called the Plan of Salvation. This plan provided a way for us to become like Him... exalted and perfected and receive a fullness of joy.
As spirit children, we attended a council where our Heavenly Father presented His great plan of happiness. This plan included the need for a Savior and two our of Father's children voluntered for this sacrifice; Jehovah and Lucifer. Jehovah was accepted as the Christ and Lucifer in his anger rebelled. Because of this rebellion, Lucifer and those of our brothers and sisters who followed him were cast out of heaven and denied the priveldge of gaining a body.

We are sent her to earth to gain a body. With our spirits combined with our bodies, we are able to learn and grow in ways that we could not in the Premortal Life. This time of our existence is a proving grounds to see if we will be obedient to God's commandments and choose to come unto Christ. We use our agency to make good or bad choices. In this life, we can be influenced by God to make good choices or tempted by Satan to make bad choices. When we sin, we draw ourselves away from God and His influences. Through the atonement, Jesus Christ provided a way that we could be forgiven and cleansed of the sins we commit in this mortal condition. By repenting and having faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, we may have happiness, peace and joy in this life.

When we die, our spirit will go to the spirit world to await the resurrection. The spirit world is a place of learning and helps prepare us for the resurrection and for Eternal Life with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

After our resurrection, when our spirits and bodies are reunited, we will be brought before the judgement seat of God. We will be judged on our knowledge of and obedience to God's commandments and the intents of our hearts.

After our judgement, we will be assigned an eternal dwelling place, or Degree of Glory. There are three degree's of glory. The Celestial Kingdom, the Terestrial Kingdom, and the Telestial Kingdom.
